The most important point to before going to market to buy food is making a plan which includes several points like:

Making a shopping list along with a prices (Make a budgeting list) and prices you can check on internet also which is very comfortable to use and I think most of us has internet connection now a days and this is a way that make more aware to you.
Do you have plan to go outside for family dinner.
Is there any parties in which you have to go.
For how many members you need to collect food items.
Any relative or friends are coming at your home or not.
Are you thinking for buying food according to season.
Buy food according to likes & dislike also consider your affordability status.

Buying food from local market is a greatest way for managing budget because
From local market you will get a fresh form of every food like fruits & vegetables.
It will save your travel allowances.
You will get more orogenic & cost effective rather than super markets.
Local market prices is always less from supermarkets because they also purchased foods directly from farmers, from maundies and from local areas so they don't add tax/GST.
Local Market means that you don't need to spend more time because #timeismoney so that means you can save both time as well as money.
3. Don't cook in bulk
Every family / home has there own way to eat like some families don't like to eat same food in a next meal and they discarded that food. According to an article published on
23 Feb 2019 in Deccan Chronicle (Indian English-language daily newspaper) food wastage in India as much as consumes in US and they told that According to the United Nations Development Programme, nearly 40% of the food produced in India goes waste.
Points that will help you to cook food as much as you can utilize:
Know about the portion size your family eat in a particular meal.
Plan a menu that how many items you are going to cook for current day meals.
This should be a responsibility of every family member that they give a information to family weather they will eat at home, have an other plan and how much they will eat.
If you see a leftover food then don't waste it try to make some snack dishes using that pre cooked leftovers and take in next meals.
